The storm’s coming, and you made a call to shut down your facility while it blows over. Your tenants will understand, but you need to inform them before they show up expecting to get to their storage unit.
Thanks to a collaboration with Scott McLaughlin of Sentry Self Storage Management, our Disaster Closing Notice Template gives you the means to prepare. Just download the form, fill in the blanks, or modify it however you like. When a disaster’s coming or has already hit, you can respond quickly and effectively. Having a response ready means you won’t spend time typing up an email when your attention needs to be elsewhere.
This template includes an advance warning for tenants, letting them know when your facility’s closing and what items they need to remove before it happens.

Getting a templated email ready before the storm happens frees you up to coordinate with your staff or respond to more specific questions from your tenants. It lets you show tenants you’re paying attention. And even though you can’t stop the tornado or hurricane from approaching, choosing to close shows tenants you value their safety.
A passing storm may not be enough to close your storage facility completely, but if the National Weather Service advises sheltering or evacuating in the face of an incoming disaster, it’s best to protect yourself, your employees, and your tenants.
Keeping a line of communication up with other local businesses or checking to see if other public offices have closed is a good indicator of how bad the storm might get. As long as you communicate, your tenants will understand.
When you do make the call, have our Disaster Closing Notice on-hand and ready to send out quickly. Save time preparing it and save time when you need to make contact.
