Fast forward a year to when I jumped into a swimming pool while it was in my pocket.
The next day I took it to the store where it was purchased with the hopes of a simply purchasing a new phone.
The sales rep informed me that in my 2 year contract, I was currently not eligible for an upgrade!
My only options were to purchase a new phone outright or I could pay the cancellation fee and start a new contract.
I felt trapped. I had no control over the situation.
That experience has never left me.
